What Happens When You Reach Out to AVPF

A starting point for veterans, neighbors, volunteers, and people who want to support our work.

You do not need to have every part of your situation figured out before contacting A Veterans Peace Foundation. Our purpose is to help veterans connect with resources and find a next step. A message can begin that conversation.

The foundation serves the Wichita area. The topics behind our work include housing resources, employment connections, benefits information, and practical community support such as lawn care. These are different needs, so the first step is to understand what kind of help you are seeking.

Start with the Get Support option on aveteranspeace.org. Explain the main reason you are contacting us and the best way to respond. A short description is enough to begin; there is no need to put your entire history into the first message.

For example, you might be looking for an organization to contact about housing, a place to begin an employment search, general information about finding benefits resources, or an opportunity to discuss a lawn care request. You can also contact us if you are interested in volunteering, contributing supplies, or learning more about the foundation.

The next step depends on your request and the resources available. Some conversations may lead to information about another community organization. Others may involve discussing a practical request or identifying questions to take to an appropriate service provider. We want the conversation to make the next step clearer.

It is also important to understand our current stage of development. We do not currently operate a transitional home. Developing transitional housing for veterans is a future goal. Housing-related outreach today should be understood as a conversation about resources and connections, rather than an application for a bed at an AVPF property.

The foundation's ability to provide practical assistance depends on available time, people, equipment, and other resources. Contacting us does not guarantee housing, employment, benefits approval, or acceptance of a lawn care project. It gives us a starting point for understanding what you need and discussing what may be possible.

Our founder's own experience navigating VA processes is part of why this work matters to us. We know that finding a next step can be confusing. If you are unsure where to begin, tell us what you are trying to accomplish. We can begin with that conversation.
